Elqui Valley Wines

Elqui Valley is Chile's most northerly wine producing region, about 400km north of Santiago. It is a low-lying region in Coquimbo that follows the Elqui river through hills up to the foothills of the Andes, meaning that morning fog can come far inland and provide an important cooling influence. Syrah and Sauvignon are some of the best wines from here for that reason.

It also has some of Chile's highest vineyards over 2000m above sea level. The intense sunlight and cooling altitude combination produces fruity, fresh wines, most notably from Syrah and Malbec.

Wine52 Curico Valley
The latest case from Wine52 was a good one, showcasing the Curico Valley region of Chile. It did very well with diversity, featuring the signature Chilean Carménère variety, a surprise Riesling and an inky Cabernet Sauvignon. The Curico Valley is a diverse region with a large variety of soils and climates. The central part of the valley is warm and fertile allowing it to comfortably grow a wide range of grape varieties with relative ease. As a result, the wines have gained a reputation for being…
