Campbeltown Scotch Whisky
Campbeltown is positioned on the Kintyre peninsula in Scotland. The region is famed for its Single Malts and was once called the Whisky Capital Of The World. The small island held 34 distilleries but a focus on quantity rather than quality along with the great depression and prohibition in the USA had a dramatic effect. Now there are three main distilleries Glen Scotia, Glengyle and Spingback. Campbeltown lost its status as a recognised region because of the collapse in the number of active distilleries and Whisky
production however it has once again been granted 'regional status' by the Scotch Whisky Association.
