What is Triple Sec?

Triple Sec is a broad term encompassing orange-flavoured fruit liqueurs that has been popular for over 150 years. An early example is Curaçao, created by the Dutch East and West India Companies. Although, this comes with various herbs and spices which is generally not expected in modern day Triple Sec.

Still, the French sought to emulate a version of this orange liqueur which the Combier distillery lays claim to inventing in 1834, seeking a version that purerly displayed the orange fruit flavours and so Triple Sec was born. Nowadays, the most well-known brand is Cointreau.
