What is Brandy de Jerez?

This is a Spanish Brandy from Jerez and matured in a solera system which has to be matured in Jerez de la Frontera, El Puerto de Santa María and Sanlúcar de Barrameda. In these ways it shares the same requirements with Sherry, and indeed you will also find Brandy de Jerez as an ingredient in some sherries.

A solera system is essentially a perpetual reserve, blending new and old juice. Different vintages are mixed into the same maturation barrel/vessel and when some is drawn out, more is added in from the latest batch to top it back up. This results in a complex marriage of young, fresh flavours with more savoury, older notes.

• Brandy de Jerez Solera - The youngest style with a minimum average age of 6 months.
• Brandy de Jerez Solera Reserva - Has a minimum average maturation of 1 year.
• Brandy de Jerez Solera Gran Reserva - The oldest style with a minimum average of 3 years ageing.
