Sometimes in life there are two things with a shared nature, a kinship. They are somehow meant to be together, despite apparent differences. Such is the case, we believe, with Scotch Whisky and Calvados. Scotland and Normandy are both northern European; they share a cool, maritime climate. While one grows principally cereals, and the other is known for its apples, these agricultural products have a long history of usage together, especially in baking. Compass Box thus saw an opportunity for a new collaboration. This exciting, limited edition bottling blends 38% Calvados, from iconic producer Christian Drouin, and 62% Scotch Whisky from Craigellachie, which spent a year in a first fill sherry butt, alongside previously blended malts from Clynelish, Dailuaine and Teaninich. Highlighting the beauty in both spirits, Affinity marries complex notes of baked apple and vanilla with malty, clove and spice to create a spirit that displays both weight and singular intensity, with a powerfully long-lived finish. 40% ABV
