Bowmore is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, having stood on the shores of Loch Indaal in Islay since 1779. In 1963, the distillery was acquired by Stanley P. Morrison. Although substantially rebuilt, he retained the original floor maltings and traditional whisky production methods, still in use to this day.
