Lambrusco Sparkling Wines

Lambrusco is mainly a red sparkling wine made by the tank method (the same way as Prosecco) in a spumante or frizzante style. The growing region for the Lambrusco varieties is principally Emilia-Romagna in Italy. The three key grapes are Lambrusco Grasparossa, Lambrusco di Sorbara and Lambrusco Salamino after which their appellations are named. Lambrusco di Sorbara is most notable of them for producing pale, light bodied reds with high acidity. As a general rule, the wines have strawberry, cherry and raspberry flavours with some tannin and usually more sugar than most sparkling wines.
