Auckland Wine

Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city with a population of 1.5million. it is here that some of the very first vines were planted back in the 19th century, and with its sub tropical climate, it is now perfectly suited to making rich, full-bodied, almost Bordeaux-style wines, from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Chardonnay also works well here, and the vineyards are generally planted on the drier, eastern side of the area, as well as on Waiheke Island.
