George T. Stagg is made at the Buffalo Trace distillery. Standing on the banks of the famous Kentucky River, the Buffalo Trace distillery sits at the very point where the river was low enough for the buffalo to cross safely, enabling them to continue their ancient Westerly migration. While it is very likely that alcohol was distilled on the Buffalo Trace site a good deal earlier, the first official registration took place in 1787.
