A light skinned, high acid, low alcohol producing grape, which is one of the main components of Vinho Verde. The addition of carbon dioxide gives these wines freshness, spritz, and liveliness.
What does it go with?
These wines are great aperitif wines, good for picnics, and delicious with salads, a bowl of fruit, or simply grilled seafood.
Authentic Vinho Verde is bone dry, and refreshing, however a number of brands on the UK market have been sweetened, and are therefore better drunk on their own, or with lightly spiced food.
