The Naked Wines Summer Essentials Case – Save £80

Naked Wines Summer Case £80 Off

It’s proving to be the hottest summer for a while, which in the wine world is the ideal excuse for Rose. That’s why Naked are offering new customers this incredible introductory case of either mixed, red or white – all complete with compulsory bottles of the pink stuff.

Be it a garden party, family BBQ, picnics or warm summer evenings, these cases have everything for this season’s occasions.

If you haven’t shopped with Naked before, this is an ideal way to stock yourself up through the summer and enjoy it in style. And no, it isn’t just because you can save £80 (though that is quite tempting), it’s because of how good the wines are and your inauguration as one of their Angels.

Find out a little more about why we cannot recommend becoming a Naked Angel enough with our article on the top reasons to join Naked Wines.

What’s in the summer case?

With three different case options, you’ll be happy whether you are team red, team white or enjoy both, and particularly if you enjoy a nice glass of refreshing rose. I’ve focused on the mixed case for this review which includes 4 whites, 5 reds and 3 roses!

Borgo dei Sassi Pinot Grigio

Wine Profile: Crisp White

Tasting Notes: It took Naked 60 different Pinot Grigios in a blind tasting to land on this and it was an instant hit with customers. Zingy lemon, pear and ripe nectarine bring this out of the boring plain Italian Pinot Grigio styles in stylish fashion. It’s light, refreshing and built for summer.

Borgo dei Sassi Pinot Grigio

Carmen Stevens Angels Selection Chenin Blanc

Wine Profile: Crisp White

Tasting Notes: Crafted from different parcels of fruit picked at varying levels of ripeness, this South African Chenin is a perfect balance of flavour and freshness in one. Crisper than I’m used to with Chenin, but it works very well. Expect fresh apple, white peach, pear and a creamy finish.

Carmen Stevens Angels Selection Chenin Blanc

Arabella Chardonnay

Wine Profile: Rich White

Tasting Notes: Golden South African sunshine helps the grapes translate the flavours into summer-in-a-bottle. Fresh citrus fruit intermingles beautifully with smooth vanilla and buttery oak, making it both refreshing and rich.

Arabella Chardonnay

Le Petit Train Sauvignon Blanc

Wine Profile: Fruity White

Tasting Notes: This is a French sauvignon that straddles the line between Kiwi and Loire styles. It has that clean, crisp, herbaceousness that you get in the Loire, but being located further south in Narbonne, it gets a lot more sun bringing out the ripe, tropical fruits you’d associate with New Zealand.

Le Petit Train Sauvignon Blanc

The Feather Pluckers Daughter Merlot

Wine Profile: Fruity Red

Tasting Notes: An Aussie Merlot that will hit the comfort spot. It’s plush and gentle with a highly aromatic palate. Think soft berries, jam, raspberries and morello cherries with a little bit of oak on the finish to bring some complexity and warmth. It’s worthy of becoming your new staple red.

The Feather Pluckers Daughter Merlot

Galodoro Vinho Regional Lisboa Red

Wine Profile: Smooth Red

Tasting Notes: Made just outside Lisbon, this is one of the most liked wines I’ve ever seen - with 98% approval from nearly 2k reviews! Ripe, juicy, smooth and easy drinking, it’s a winning Portuguese blend of Castelao, Tinta Roriz, Touriga Nacional and a little Cabernet. A sumptuous mouthfeel and lingering, velvety finish sum it up perfectly.

Galodoro Vinho Regional Lisboa

Castillo Catadau Tinto

Wine Profile: Fruity Red

Tasting Notes: Switching to Valencia in Spain, this excellent Tempranillo, Monastrell, Garnacha blend is bright and elegant. Ripe red berries mingle with lavender and thyme for a fruity, complex taste. It manages to deliver intense flavours whilst maintaining an easy going feel, making it great for all wine lovers.

Castillo Catadau Tinto

Tomas Buendia Organic Tempranillo

Wine Profile: Fruity Red

Tasting Notes: Moving across Spain to Castilla-La Mancha, this is pure Tempranillo at its fruitiest. The high altitude vineyards in central Spain mean the grapes are subjected to long sunshine hours, but are cool during the nights allowing the grapes to develop acidity. This diurnal range results in a flavoursome wine with excellent balance so it is both intense and fresh. Smooth, ripe, juicy and versatile.

Tomas Buendia Organic Tempranillo

Christian Patat Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

Wine Profile: Big Red

Tasting Notes: Christian Patat is perhaps Naked’s greatest winemaker, creating hit after hit all over Italy. His Montepulciano leads with mulberries and violet that turn into ripe damsons and cherries on the palate. It’s big and plush with a velvety mouthfeel.

Christian Patat Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

Chateau Saint Hilaire Provence Rose

Wine Profile: Pale Rosé

Tasting Notes: Taking advantage of the Provence sunshine, it’s a full flavoured pale Rose to savour. Fresh and dry with citrus, white peach and an almond backbone, this is typical French elegance in a bottle.

Chateau Saint Hilaire Provence Rose

Sacchetto Giano Pinot Grigio Blush

Wine Profile: Pale Rosé

Tasting Notes: Pinot Grigio blush is typically pretty vapid, bland stuff. And whilst this isn’t going to win best, most complex wine awards, it is the best Pinot Blush I’ve seen. Super light and dangerously quaffable, it takes on fresh raspberries and crisp apple notes with surprisingly good flavour intensity. It’s a great evening tipple.

Sacchetto Giano Pinot Grigio Blush

Montaria Rosé

Wine Profile: Pale Rosé

Tasting Notes: The Montaria wine range has been well known for its whites and reds from Tejo, Portugal. The rose is a relatively new addition with Castelao as the main variety. Red berried raspberries and strawberries are complemented by the sweet come bitter nature of pink grapefruit and given a floral rose petal lift. Dry and zippy with a mineral finish – definitely a crowd-pleaser.

Montaria Rosé
