A dessert wine, as its name suggests, is a very concentrated sweet wine usually drunk with dessert. They are not far from the fortified wine category, the difference being that Port or Sherry are usually drunk before or after the meal when dessert wines are drunk during a meal. Examples of dessert wines are Sauternes, Tokaji or icewine.
