Selfridges’ Christmas Hampers

Still stuck on impressive gifts? Or do you want an all-in-one pack to get you everything you need for Christmas Day? Just look to Selfridges for the ultimate hamper this year.

Bring a Selfridges touch home with their great selection of luxury hampers. The collection of hand-picked gift hampers makes mouths water and palates pop. From alcohol and tea bundles to Christmas delights, each basket and yellow box is the perfect way to enjoy this year that bit more. The selection of Christmas Hampers ensures the holidays are the most wonderful time of the year with their range of Christmas cakes, puddings, wine, chocolate and cheese.

The good people at Selfridges kindly sent us The Classic Christmas Hamper to review and it went down a treat at the office! I think at £100 this is truly magnificent and will be treated as the finest gift. You’ll certainly create some very generous gifts for yourself next year I’ll bet. Brimming with seasonal treats and wine, it’s arrival lets you know that Xmas is truly here.

The beautiful wicker basket on arrival was all I needed to know it would be good. Inside was a Selfridges Bauble with gorgeous salted caramel truffles (which I’m enjoying right now as I write), a Christmas Pud, a 20 pack Festive Tea blend, a musical Christmas tin featuring the iconic Selfridges store as decoration with tiny gingerbread snowmen inside, a bottle of Selfridges Selection Gavi DOCG and Selfridges Selection Côtes du Rhône. Plenty to savour and enjoy. You can read more about the excellent value Selfridges Selection Wines here too.

We may as well start with the wine since that’s the highlight for me (of course). These wines are the perfect accompaniment to your Christmas Day feast because everyone will like them. Gavi hardly needs an introduction, but it was both crisp and floral at the same time, giving it a great bit of depth and suitable to kick off your starters. I was very impressed with the ripeness of the fruits yet classic Gavi acidity. This is Gavi at its best. The Côtes du Rhône is more suited to your mains. Fruit forward with subtle spice and leathery notes to add some depth of flavour. A tinge of licorice hangs onto the finish as well as some meaty elements. A savoury wine that teases your palate for more and more and exemplifies great Rhone perfectly!

Next in line to go were the musically confined gingerbread snowmen along with the festive tea. Fortunately they aren’t the kind of snowmen to melt when you dip them in something hot, but they certainly made an upgrade from dipping the usual Biscoffs in the PG Tips. Delicious biscuits and deliciously festive tea. The tea box simply says“Sweet. Zesty. Fruit.”and that I think covers the bases quite nicely. Inspired by panettone, it is probably the most aromatically beautiful tea I’ve had, filled with a blend of rooibos, elderberries, apple, rosewater, hibiscus and orange. Plus the bags are biodegradable, so it’s good for you and the planet.

The Christmas pudding was, as ever, the last to go. Made with a one-of-a-kind recipe from vine fruits, cider, rum, brandy, glacier cherries and almonds, I thought could this be a Christmas pudding I actually like? It’s also got 9 months maturation under its belt allowing the sweet, fruity flavours to really develop. So, on first bite, I thought, yes, I do actually like Christmas pudding now. And it simply went from there. Delicious and perfect for your table this year if you’re looking to actually enjoy dessert.

Bear in mind that you aren’t strictly limited to this hamper to get these items, if anything jumped out at you or you’re missing any of these key components, you can buy them individually and get them just in time for the big day!

Here’s a selection of other fantastic Christmas hampers to get hold of too:

The Prosecco and 18-piece Salted Caramels The Prosecco and 18-piece Salted Caramels gift box - £55
  • Selfridges Selection Prosecco
  • 18 Selfridges Selection salted caramel truffles

Having already tried the truffles in our Hamper, I can promise you that they will melt in your mouth and prove themselves short-lived once open. These are truly delicious truffles and when you have 18 of them you are in some luck!

The Prosecco is a fantastic step up from the usual you find. Made by the Adami winery in Treviso, which was awarded a top 100 winery of the year award, it is crisp and refreshing, the perfect aperitif for hosting this year.

Xmas Day hamper The Christmas Day hamper - £350

This frankly contains too much to list (23 items!) but highlights include:

  • Snacks - Panettone Chocolate Bar, Coal Honeycomb, Classic Panettone 1kg, Christmas Pudding, Mince Pies, Cheddar Truckle, Potted Stilton, Dukeshill Midi Boneless Wiltshire Ham 1kg
  • Condiments - Brandy butter, Cherry and Amaretto Jam, Spiced Marmalade, Festive Condiment trio
  • Drinks - Selfridges Selection Finest reserve Port, Selfridges Selection Champagne Brut, Selfridges Selection Malbec, Selfridges Selection Organic White Wine

There's a lot to unpack here, both physically and literarily, but this is pretty much your catch-all Hamper for the big day. Imagine coming down in the morning and seeing this on your table. It will be Christmas sorted just like that, and in impressively delicious style too. Pop the Champagne for your breakfast Buck's Fizz or save it for the toast, hold the port for the cheeses and use the Malbec and White blend for your main course. Then spend your evening, and much of the day, snacking on the array of festive treats!

Cotswolds Hamper Cotswold Cheese and Wine hamper - £110

A cheese and cracker delight from the Cotswolds, including:

  • Daylesford organic plum and port chutney, Daylesford organic seeded star biscuits
  • Daylesford organic cheddar, Daylesford organic mini Penyston, Daylesford organic Bledington blue
  • Daylesford organic Rosso wine, Daylesford organic Falerio wine

Liable to sell out soon, as it already has at least once so far this year, I felt I had to include this one. A great selection of savoury cheeses and chutneys for your post main indulgence. Everything here is organic too, so rest assured you are being kind to the planet with this one. Oh, and don't forget your red and white bottles to pair with the cheese!

The Mini Classic Christmas hamper The Mini Classic Christmas hamper - £85
  • Selfridges Selection Rose and Lemon Turkish Delight
  • Selfridges Selection panettone chocolate bar
  • Selfridges Selection Christmas pudding
  • Selfridges Selection Brandy butter
  • Selfridges Selection Pigs in blankets nuts
  • Selfridges Selection mulled wine

Less focus on wine with this one but it has a great selection of tasty foods inside to be considered worthy by me. Moreish and sweet snacks are complemented by the epic Selfridges Christmas pud. What's not to like?

There are many more to check out but these look like the best for me. Happy shopping and make your Christmas amazing with a Selfridges Hamper.
