Rustenberg Wines
The Rustenberg Wine Estate is based in South Africa's most famous wine region, Stellenbosch, in the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountain. The Estate's wine growing history can be dated back as far as 1682!
In 1892, John X Merriman, who would later become Prime Minister of the Cape, along with his brother-in-law, rescued the Rustenberg Estate from Bankruptcy. They revitalised the the farms and started exporting the wines all over the world. One of their most popular and highly rated wines is now named after him, the Rustenberg John X Merriman.
Rustenberg wines are focussed on quality and keeping the flavours true to the terroir. They have great international acclaim and continue to strive forward, more recently experimenting with wild ferments.
