Vin Jaune Wine Offers

Vin Jaune, meaning “Yellow Wine”, is a unique, distinctive wine produced in the Jura region of eastern France. It is made exclusively from the Savagnin grape and undergoes an extended aging period of at least 6 years and 3 months in oak barrels. Much like sherry, this allows a layer of yeast known as voile to form on the surface which helps the wine develop complex flavors due to slow oxidation under the yeast layer.

They are considered to be excellent wines for the most part, although quite hard to get hold of from your average wine shop. They have a deep gold color with nutty, spicy, and curry-like aromas that are in essence very much like a Fino sherry, just without fortification.
