What is Pot Still Rum?

Pot Still Rum is one of the first rum styles. The pot still is the original rum still that is known for its ability to make rich, weighty rums and other spirits. The technology is simple: producers boil their liquid and collect the vapour that comes out the top. This concentrates the alcohol and provides their rum.

Compared to a column still rum, pot still is a single distillation batch that generally provides more flavour. This is because the distillation is slower and more gentle, helping retain more characteristics from the fermentation process. Alcohol content is also usually higher and so if you enjoy full-bodied styles then this is for you.
