What is Pink Gin?

Gin and Tonic

Pink Gin. It's everywhere, and it's delicious!

The popularity of Pink Gin has risen, thanks in the most part to millenials. Yep, they're always looking to try out new fads, and if these just so happen to look attractive on Instagram - then even better! It's also the kind of gin that appeals to those looking for a sweeter flavour and more experimental styles of gin. Traditional juniper gin can be quite a sharp mouthful if you've only just started drinking, so it is hardly surprsing the younger crowd prefer this more approachable tipple.

But what exactly is it?

Whether or not pink gin is a fad, remains to be seen. But the method is now well tried and tested. Essentially, Pink Gin is so because it has had something added to a base gin that gives it a pink hue after distillation - strawberry, raspberry, rhubarb, rose and pink grapefruit are some common examples. It's a normal gin, just with extra on top which adds flavour and softens the alcoholic juniper notes. Some pink gins simply have these sorts of pinkening ingredients added, others will have these and flavourings added too. We've seen marshmallow and Creme Brulee versions before!

To those who haven't yet tried it, it is a brilliant drink to enjoy on a hot Summer's day. We recommend mixing with a good quality Tonic water such as Fever tree, or you can also enjoy Pink Gin with Lemonade for a real sweet treat.
