January Wine Sales 2026
January is increasingly the time that people give dry January a go and usually give up around about now. Good effort though! The fact is a dry month isn’t the secret to a healthier lifestyle, what you really need is a concerted effort to lower your overall consumption throughout the week (I include myself). For, as with dieting, there are no quick fixes (maybe Ozempic) nor cheat codes to healthier living, it has to be a permanent lifestyle change.
I am not at all advocating for (un)Godly abstinence permanently. In fact, there are a few well-known studies that indicate those who do drink in moderation have a lower all-cause mortality. And it is also well-known that many “blue-zones”, where a number of locals live to 100+, have moderate social drinking ingrained in tradition. Instead, for Jan and the rest of the year, you should think about consuming one or two glasses less each night you drink and that will become the new norm for you. Less booze, better health. I’d always recommend if you drink less, you drink better wines too!
January in the wine industry is the time of sales, where merchants are clearing shelf space for new vintages in the coming year. This means that there is some unpopular plonk hanging around, but it also means you can get really good wines for bin-end prices. For those championing moderation but drinking better wine this year, I’ve put together a couple of recommendations to get your hands on here.

Majestic Wine Bin-End Sale – 50% Off
Majestic is a great bet too, often selling excess stock from their Wine Club, which gives you some real steals, or simply shifting through some of their staples that they simply have too many of the older vintage to go through. To be clear, these aren’t gone off, they just need room for the next batch inbound.
Some exciting picks:
- 50% OFF Chanoine Frères NV Brut Champagne - Was £40, Now £20 - From the second-oldest Champagne house this Champagne is made primarily from Pinot Noir grapes: it's well-structured and beautifully aromatic. Expect fine bubbles with notes of stone fruits, spice, fig and Golden Delicious apple.
- 50% OFF Parcel Series No.90 Saint-Estèphe - Was £30, Now £15 – From a top winery in Saint-Estèphe, a commune in the Mèdoc appellation of Bordeaux, known for making powerful and structured wines. All the grapes for this wine are harvested by hand, and the wine is aged in French oak barrels for one year. The result is a deep ruby, smooth wine, bursting with ripe red fruit.
- 46% OFF Il Colle Prosecco Tranquillo - Was £14, Now £7.50 - This still Prosecco, known as Tranquillo, is a unique rendition of the traditionally sparkling variety. It showcases a clean, floral nose with hints of golden apple and peach. The wine is harmonious and balanced, with a subtle spritz that adds a touch of liveliness.
- 41% OFF Te Kairanga Riesling - Was £16, Now £9.50 - Te Kairanga is one of the oldest Martinborough wineries. They grow a variety of cool climate grapes, from Pinot Noir to Pinot Gris and of course, Riesling. Made in an off-dry style, this refreshingly aromatic Riesling is bursting with flavours of lime blossom, lime zest, apple, and honeysuckle.
- 37% OFF The King's Favour Sauvignon Blanc - Was £15, Now £9.50 - A classic Waihopai Sauvignon Blanc – an important Marlborough sub-region where the wines are particularly vibrant. Think guava, gooseberry and a hint of blackcurrant leaf which sets this apart from the standard.
- 31% OFF Domaine Saint Ferréol Viognier Grande Réserve - Was £21, Now £14.50 - Reminiscent of Condrieu, this is their finest and most expressive Viognier, but without the usual price tag. This is named 'Grande Réserve' for good reason – once it's aged in oak for ten months, it's not released until it's spent a further year in the bottle. As a result, it's truly indulgent. Discover rich and warming notes of peach, apricot, butterscotch and vanilla.
