Santa Ynez Valley Wines

Santa Ynez Valley AVA is located on the Central Coast of California. It is a large region with cool coastal influence and warmer inland areas. It has been divided into 4 sub AVAs to distinguish these climactic factors:

• Santa Rita Hills AVA - a cool coastal AVA with excellent Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Syrah.
• Ballard Canyon AVA - Further inland, Ballard Canyon is warmer allowing Grenache to flourish here.
• Los Olivos AVA - Warmer still, this region is ideal for Bordeaux, Rhone and even Italian varieties.
• Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara - Furtherst from the Pacific, this is the warmest region producing richer wines.
