Your Favourite Waitrose Cellar Sale Returns!

Don't Miss The Waitrose Cellar Buy 6, Save 25% Offer

We’ve always been fans of the Waitrose Cellar wine range, with a fantastic selection of good, quality brand names for when you’re unsure what to buy, but also a wealth of fun, unusual wines with interesting provenance for the adventurers. Waitrose Cellar is the place to go if you want a bit of variety in your wine rack.

And, there’s no better time to sample the delights than right now. Their “Buy 6, Save 25%” offer doesn’t come around as often as the other supermarkets, but that makes it all the more reason to go go go when it does!

This is just in time for the bank holiday to keep you refreshed for the long weekend, so hurry before it ends on 26th August. Go on, it’s too tempting to say no.

Our top picks this bank holiday

  • Bredon Cuvee Jean Louis Brut Champagne - This is an exclusive Waitrose Cellar Champagne, made by the award-winning team at Champagne Lombard & Cie. It’s smooth, fruity and holds a strong, attractive palate thanks to the dominance of Pinot Noir.

  • Valdo Elevantum Prosecco DOCG - I think this will always be the best Prosecco at Waitrose Cellar you can find. It possesses surprising intensity for such a good value Prosecco that puts it miles ahead of big name brands. The fruit character boasts ripe green apples, waxy lemons and juicy pears that is well balanced with floral delicacy. The finish is nice and long with a closing honey note.

  • Chateau Musar - Affectionately known as the Lafite of Lebanon, Chateau Musar makes exceptional wines for a fraction of the price. It’s an indulgent, heady red wine that continues to make wines to impress the critics each vintage despite the unrest in the region. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault and Carignan, it’s a rich, ripe treat.

  • Terre di Faiano Primitivo - Primitivo is always a great BBQ red, and this is no exception. But, the producer likes to do things a little differently to give it that extra kick. It is the first organic Primitivo made 100% by the appassimento method, meaning that the usual Primitivo flavours are even more concentrated allowing it to burst with cherries, raspberries and redcurrants. A little oak adds a rounded character and some spice to balance the intense fruit beautifully.

  • Rock Angel Rosé - The archangel to the much love Whispering Angel, Rock Angel takes the super popular premium Rose game up a notch (or two). Think wild strawberries and sweet red fruits layered on a delicate floral undertone to create a Rose that you didn’t know could be so good!

  • Esprit de Buganay Provence Rose - A blend of Cinsaut, Syrah and Grenache creates a more textured and fuller-flavoured Rose with delicious fruit character. To me, this is a little bit like Whispering Angel in many respects, just much better value if you don’t fancy upgrading to the Rock Angel.

  • Broglia Gavi di Gavi - I see less and less noise about Gavi these days, but when you taste a wine like this you have to wonder why. The low-quality, boring versions on the market pale in comparison to this. Citrusy notes of lemon and greengage combine beautifully with a nutty almond undercurrent, born from lees ageing, that makes this complex and very drinkable. The finish is long and powerful, making it a great foodie white.

  • Jackson Estate Stich Sauvignon Blanc - Possibly the best Marlborough Sauvignon out there once you get beyond the wall of big brand names. It has punchy lime and gooseberry aromas that manage to stay in balance much better than most New Zealand Sauvignon for me. It doesn’t rely on overpowering tropical fruit, rather a perfect blend of them so they interact, temper and balance each other to make a great, refreshing Marlborough.
