Limari Wine

Limari lies south of Elqui, and close to the coast, but still very far up north, in territory that was previously used for Pisco production. It is less elevated than Elqui but benefits from limestone soils, cooling sea breezes and the ‘Cachamanca’ fog that rolls in from the ocean, followed by pure sunlight reflected. It is one of the driest regions, with very low rainfall, and is irrigated by the Limari river, which flows from the mountains.

It’s another up and coming area, and one focussed on quality production. Chardonnay is probably the most successful grape grown here, with the soils and climate giving the wines a unique minerality, elegance and freshness. Sauvignon Blanc is also producing some superbly elegant wines here. In terms of reds, Syrah is king, with the unique topography and climate, giving it a full bodied, yet, restrained edge.
