What Food What Wine? 2012 Results Just Announced!
The latest What Food What Wine awards have just been released on Wines Direct. This year see’s the addition of two new award categories focusing on the perfect Wines to Wines To Match
Indian Food and most importantly (though slightly out of season) the best wines with Christmas Dinner!
Using some the most respected food and wine experts What Food What Wine is now in its second year and is the first major food and wine matching competition. It also differs from many other wine competitions as all wines are judged true blind - the only details the judges are given is whether the wine is priced under or over £10 per bottle – ie an everyday bottle or a special purchase.
The Stand Out Winners
Barefoot Wines have to be one of the stand out wine makers with their entries winning six awards in total including 2 trophies for the Barefoot Moscato which won best wine with Apple Crumble & Custard
and Strawberries & Cream. The Barefoot Shiraz also picked up a trophy being matched perfectly Lam Rogan Josh in the new Indian Category.
Also worth noting this year was the famous Champagne house Taittinger winning not just a medal for their Taittinger Brut Reserve matching with fish and chips but also a top trophy! The trophy was awarded to their Taittinger Prelude Grands Crus for its match with Smoked Salmon.
