Winemaker Tim Fröhlich is renowned for his mineral rich white wines, which he believes is down to the individual terroir where the vines are grown. The rockier and stonier the soil, the finer and more minerally they are, as well as being more precise and elegant. The Vulkangestein Riesling Trocken comes from these rocky, volcanic soils and is an unmistakably authentic wine. Fermented naturally in a combination of 600 litre barrels and stainless steel tanks, Tim ensures the wine has texture and pure varietal fruit as well as signature minerality. Bottle ageing then adds further complexity and results in a wine that is lightweight but full of flavour, with layers ranging from lemon sherbet to white flowers, smoke to green apple, and pineapple to crushed oyster shell. Smoky and fruity, this wine has great balance with a textured palate and a mineral finish that goes on and on and on.
