Carmenere is an exceptional grape, blending the fruit and elegance of Merlot with the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon. Chile, and in particular the cooler Maule valley, is where the best examples are found and this Gran Reserva, from Terra Noble, is the best we’ve tasted by far. Robert Parker gave the previous vintage 92—and we expect a similar rating for the excellent 2009—remarkable for a wine of this price but not for this quality.
