This was an opportunistic side door purchase from one of New Zealand's leading Sauvignon Blanc producers. As is the norm, our hands are tied on disclosing the source to protect their brand. The upshot of these deals is that you get access to a great wine at a very good price. Supplejack is a vibrant white full of citrus fruit, bell pepper notes and a touch of rich pineapple intensity. It'll make a great partner when served chilled with a fish pie or why not make some homemade calamari and aioli dip.

I don't know all the flowery words that the experts use to describe wines so here is my version. As someone who was brought up on Weinfests in Germany my white wine preference is a good Mosel followed by a good Rhein wine so you won't be surprised to hear that a lot of whites from elsewhere are found, by my palate, to be too sharp. However this particular Sauvignon Blanc was straight away a great taste. Yes it had a bit of a 'zing' and zestiness but it was just the right side of being too sharp and the flavours of the fruits were excellent. Anything I rate at 3 stars is very good and 4 stars is a rarity for me, especially for a white wine. The ultimate accolade is that I will be backing it with my wallet and buying a case.
