Pauillac produces some of the most majestic, long lived wines of Bordeaux. Foremost among them is Château Lafite Rothschild, "the First Growth of First Growths" according to Clive Coates MW. Tony Laithwaite is a long-time friend of winemaker Charles Chevallier, who took charge of the cellar at Lafite in 1999, and that's how this exclusive cuvée came about. Made with grapes from selected vineyards across Pauillac, it bears the Rothschilds' uncompromising stamp of quality - finest parcels of fruit, fastidious, world class winemaking and patient barrel ageing. The excellent 2014 vintage is delicious now (an hour's decanting recommended) but will also benefit from several years' cellaring. Enjoy with roast red meats or a rich casserole..
